When chiseling away the bondo, one place which really surprised me was the windshield cowling. This area had some of the thickest filler on the whole car.

Layers of body filler over rust

What I found beneath revealed a prior repair where a previous owner brazed a split section in the sheet metal. Where the brazing material was dipped well below the surrounding metal so that quite a bit more filler had to be used. The plan was to cut out the brazed area for a better repair and minimize the need for filler. All in all, it made for a pretty satisfying fix. As the pictures indicate, there is more work to be done on the cowl but this gets it closer to the finish line.
